We need all varieties of adults.  Men, women, moms, dads, grandpa’s, grandma’s, young, old!

Religious Education Volunteers

 

St. Ann RE program has a variety of ways for adults to volunteer in our program:

 

 

Volunteer Expectations

 

  • Participation in weekly Mass
  • Make a VIRTUS account and complete " Virtus Protecting God's Children" on-line training.
  • Continue PGC Training on-line monthly through VIRTUS
  • A signed release form for us to conduct a criminal background check, and a clear report.
  • Completion of volunteer packet
  • Arrival early prior to session time
  • Consistent and reliable attendance at your session



Catechist

 

What Does a Catechist Do?

 

  • Advance preparation of lesson plans
    (can work together with catechist aide).
  • Attend Catechist Meeting
  • Obtain 6 hours of formation training
  • Help children learn assigned prayers
  • Help maintain good learning environment
  • Know the children by name
  • Participate in prayer time
  • Monitor emergency situations and notify the DRE
  • Other projects assigned by the DRE

 

When Do I Help?

 

  • Arrive 10 minutes before the session begins
  • Plan to stay and help clean up after sessions ends
  • All calendared sessions


Catechist Aide

 

What Does a Catechist Aide Do?

 

  • Assist the Catechist
  • Help children learn assigned prayers
  • Help maintain good learning environment
  • Know the children by name
  • Participate in prayer time
  • Obtain 6 hours of formation training
  • Monitor emergency situations and notify the DRE
  • Step in for a catechist in an emergency
  • Other projects assigned by the DRE

  • Plan to stay and help clean up after sessions ends
  • All calendared sessions


What if I Can't Be There As a Catechist, Catechist Aide, or Hall Monitor?
In the event you cannot be here, please call the Formation Office to let us know of your absence ASAP at 815-467-6962 ext. 5

Hall Monitor

 

What Does a Hall Monitor Do?

 

  • Help with your presence at all doors
    before and after the session
  • Collect attendance sheets
  • Distribute materials to the classrooms
  • Monitor the hallways and bathrooms
  • Ring bells at the beginning and end of the session
  • Help with clean up after session in hall and rooms
  • Monitor emergency situations and notify the DRE
  • Step in for a catechist in an emergency
  • Stuff bulletins
  • Water plants/flowers when needed
  • Other projects assigned by the DRE

 

When Do I Help?

 

  • Arrive 10 minutes before the session begins
  • Plan to stay 10 minutes after session ends
  • All calendared sessions

Fundraising Team

 

Designed for volunteers who desire a tuition discount, but cannot commit to the regular R.E. weekly schedule.

 

Work with a group to plan, organize, and execute fundraising events to supplement R.E. program monetary needs, i.e. sell raffle tickets after Masses, request donations from local business, market event, provide set up and take down, work the event, etc.
